Welcome to Locomotor Nox, an advanced Harry Potter past roleplay set in the years 1974-1975, the 6th year of the Marauders Era which has just re-opened!. We hold an extensive canon list, over 30 IC roleplay boards, and the option for non-student characters. Not to mention a friendly atmosphere!

News

12/05/10 Hey folks. Bear with the broken images for a moment, Raine is working on switching domains. It seems the one we are currently using doesn't give us enough bandwith. Should be back up and running properly in a day or two.
-----
12/02/10 If you play a teacher and would like to become the head of either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw house, PM the Hard Nox account with why you'd think make a good head of house.
-----
11/28/10 Colin has donated his money to make this site ad-free for awhile! If you'd like ad-free LNox to continue, talk to one of the admins to donate. It really doesn't cost all that much to maintain it, but we won't if we run slow on members or it doesn't make a difference to you guys. Colin has also made a wonderful favicon. On top of this all, he's gone over and tweaked both the rules and applications, so it would do to read them over once again.
-----
11/21/10 Two years have passed and LNox has re-opened for a final time. All boards are going to remain untouched so everyone can pick up where they left off. Once we get a more official tally of whose staying and who isn't returning, the boards will be cleaned.

The Hard Nox Say
Raine: "We're getting so official here, guys! It's really so heart-warming to see so many of you return. Now, we just need to lure in some ickle newbies..."
Wolfy:"Wow, it's been a while! I kind of need to step it up, yeah? Heheh. It'll be great to see everyone again!"
Colin: "Welcome back, ladies and janks! Spent some time revamping the rules today. Everyone should go reread them!"
Kristin: "Ohmajeeze! *squees*"

Can't have shameless plugging without buttons!

All applications should be posted here, where, if they are accepted, will be moved to be included into the Character Files. These will serve as a sort of profile for your character. These can be edited and updated as times, and your character, changes, but not every other day. You may not edit your profile (aside from spelling errors) more than twice a month. Canon list is included!

Going to be gone awhile? Post here, so we’ll know where you disappeared off to! This is especially helpful for when major characters, such as the Marauders, take leave for a long period of time. They might want to set it up so someone else can take over their character until they get back, if they’re gone for an extended amount of time.

[ ]Potion's Classroom
Professor: Slughorn

Dark and dingy, the Potion’s classroom is more of a dungeon than anything. The stone walls are filled with spare ingredients and potion-making books, and the ground is littered with cauldrons (very musty and well-used ones, to say the least). If the atmosphere doesn’t scare you into paying attention, the fact that your class work might shrink you at any point in time might.

[ ]Slytherin Common Room
Located in a low-ceilinged dungeon under the lake, the Slytherin common room is very much a reflection of the students that frequent it. Next to the dungeon-like walls and coldness, it contains various high-backed chairs and couches, decorated with greenish lamps. The Slytherin snake seems to be emblazoned everywhere, and the entrance is a large hidden door in the stone walls, protected by passwords.

[ ]Dungeon Five
If it could be possible, this dungeon is even more morbid than the Potion’s classroom. Used mostly for detention (or a particularly risky midnight duel, for it’s large stone walls make it almost soundproof), it can set off some bad memories for some students. Even though it’s not very well protected at all, most students tend to avoid the room.

[ ]Kitchens
Directly beneath the Great Hall, if you’re careful enough, you can sneak into the kitchens for a little snack. Just tickle the pear, and the house-elves will happily oblige! Over hundreds of them work there, preparing meals for Hogwarts. The kitchen sports very high ceilings, and a blazing brick fireplace is stationed at the far end.

[ ]Hufflepuff Common Room
Located conveniently close to the kitchens, the Hufflepuff common room serves as a very comfortable lounge for it’s students. Full of yellow and black, very round, cushioned seats and draperies, it really is the perfect place to twiddle away some time with your housemates. It is accessed through a still-life, unmoving painting, and protected by passwords.

[ ]Entrance Hall/Great Hall
Once you enter through those signature giant oak doors, you’re greeted with the awe-inspiring Entrance Hall. And if you thought the Entrance Hall was beautiful, just pass up the marble staircase, and you’ll be left speechless by the Great Hall. The ceiling, bewitched to mimic the sky above it, seems endless, candles floating comfortable above. The four house tables are stationed behind the large staff table, and all meals are served here; including feasts. It also houses certain important events.

[ ]Broom Cupboard
A quick and shoddy hide-away. The broom cupboard is perfect for hiding quickly from a passerby, or maybe hiding something a bit secret? It’s mostly used for some between-class snogging, but throughout their years, every student gets some use out of it one way or another.

[ ]Staff Room
Need to get something off your chest about a student, or just want to shut yourself away from the general, student-ridden public? Any teacher, or adult authoritive is welcome to wander freely in and out of the staff room, which contains special catering, and is a deal more snug and well-equipped than the Great Hall, shall we say. Professors are allowed to bring in a student here or there for special treatment, or if in a hurry, though it’s a lot more common for students to sneak in when it’s abandoned to swipe a mid-class snack.

[ ]Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom
Professor: Abraxas Venfield

This classroom, with it’s large capacity, iron chandelier, and very plentiful bout of windows, is perfect for the practice of Defense Against the Dark Arts. It seems that most students enjoy this hands-on class, which is a good thing, because it’s mandatory for most of the student’s Hogwarts years. Though the teaching spot seems to be cursed, it’s safe to say that both professor and teacher can look forward to the variety

First Floor
[ ]Muggle Studies Classroom
Professor: Olivia Mandeville

A class specified for purebloods, or half-bloods who were raised in an entire wizarding environment. In a small, everyday classroom (like most on the first floor), muggle studies teaches you everything you need to know about your standard muggle community. Covering brief muggle history, to the mechanics of things as foreign as the non-owl post system and spark plugs. Almost as boring as History of Magic, but it’s something nice to have on your record if you plan on specializing in the Ministry of Magic, who are forced to deal with muggles and muggle situations, in some stations, almost daily.

[ ]History of Magic Classroom
Professor: Cuthbert Binns

Another very bland classroom for another very bland class. One wall is lined with thick-glassed, narrow-ledged windows, and at the front of the class is a large blackboard, through which Professor Binns, the only ghost teacher, enters and exists. Another mandatory class, though by far the most boring. Being lectured by a droning ghost about old witched and wizards can put anyone to sleep, but you better at least set up a Quick-Quotes Quill, because the key to passing this class is jamming those dates and important events into your brain.

[ ]Hospital Wing
Nurses: N/A

Sporting the looks of any general hospital, if not a little cozier, the Hospital Wing is where anyone is sent if they befall any illness or injury. Luckily, the nurses never ask too many questions, so students (or even teachers), don’t have to be afraid about revealing some nasty post-duel cut. Most anything can be magically treated in a matter of hours, but overnight stays are frequent enough.

[ ]Transfiguration Classroom
Professor: Minerva McGonagall

The art of Transfiguration is enough on it’s own to hold it’s own course; a mandatory one that follows you, non-the-less! As with all first-floor classrooms, there’s really nothing special about the room itself. But, trust me, you won’t have time to observe anyway; this is by far one of the toughest classes you’ll have to take as a student. Up their with Potions, it’s important you pay close attention to this class, or you’ll probably get nowhere big out on the job market.

Ah, Myrtle’s bathroom. If you can block out the sobbing of that ever-present whiney ghost, you can get away with a lot here. Anything from a bit of crying to a bit of highly illegal ingredient trafficking; no professor will come anywhere near the place. It’s too small and run-down to do much, however, and is quite pungent of that unpleasant stagnant bathroom smell.

Even though it seems like Peeves always finds a way to bounce around and break the crystal display cases, both the Trophy room and adjacent Armor gallery are kept pristine. If you take the time to go through all the cases, you can practically learn everything that you’ll end up reading in Hogwarts: A History. This is another detention place frequented by trouble-makers.

[ ]Charms Classroom
Professor: N/A

Found near the front of the castle, the window-lined classroom has a very lighthearted feel to it. Charms classes are normally large, seeing as it’s another mandatory class, and no one really bothers to skip such an easy class. One of the most passable, Charms deals with some of the basics of magic, and most students can pass it, even if they slept through half the lessons.

[ ]Ancient Runes Classroom
Professor: N/A

An elective class very much like History of Magic and Muggle Studies, most students see this as useless information. And really, it is, unless you’re going into a field of studies that specifically needs the translation of runes. However, learning the drawling translations can come in handy to impress your friends. Even if you’re very intrigued and interested in the subject, the piles of homework usually weigh down your social life, not to mention your bags.

[ ]Room of Requirement
By walking past the wall three times, concentrating hard on what you want, the door to the Room of Requirement shall appear for you. A very useful room half the professors, and even students don’t know about, this can come in handy for just about any occasion. Parties, secret meetings…toiletries…Absolutely anything you need! Just be careful you don’t slip it’s whereabouts to the wrong person; it might hit a teacher’s ear.

[ ]Classroom Eleven
Fine Arts for the Wand Professor: Olivia Mandeville

Not as reliable as the Room of Requirement, but definitely far more well-known, Classroom eleven has been a deserted, plain, classroom for year. The professors check in occasionally, and they certainly won’t bother you if you’re using the spare room for your Charms practice. However, if anything major goes on here, keep an ear out for wary prefects teacher’s pets.

This room has recently been slightly renovated to make room for Hogwart's new class; Fine Arts for the Wand. So if you catch some children flicking around some paint; you'll know why!

With it’s endless shelves and high, book-filled walls, the library is a perfect place to cram on an essay, or simply huddle up with a good book. Once through the door, which is password protected, these large bathrooms are perfect places for the prefects to get away from everything. The baths themselves are deep and very Jacuzzi-like, the taps producing every scent and magical bubble imaginable. The perfect place to lose yourself and think.

[ ]Arithmancy Classroom
Professor: N/A

The grueling, mandatory class of Arithmancy is normally a class no one looks forward too. The jumble of numbers is enough to make anyone go insane, and the dull, moldy-feeling classroom doesn’t do much to help the atmosphere of the class. No one really thinks they need to know all the number-crunching that makes up the class, though almost every student ends up using what they learned in Arithmancy a lot more frequently then their brain would like.

[ ]Fourth Floor Corridor
Seeing as there are no important offices or classrooms on this corridor, it is almost always deserted by professors, and is out of the way of the normal hallway traffic. A lot of students like to wander down the fourth floor corridor to spend time with a few of their friends out of the way of everything, and during the night, some risky things can occur down here, without most of the professors bothering to check in on it.

[ ]Astronomy Classroom
Professor: N/A

Astronomy, holding a tower all to itself, is an elective for people whose minds are on the future. Though many professors and other high-ranking wizards thinks it’s a waste of academics for it’s unpredictability and falsehoods, students could gain a lot from sky gazing. While the charts can be hard to sort out, the class itself is very hands on, and often set up late in the day, so students can properly read the stars.

[ ]Headmaster's Office
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

Behind that ever-familiar stone gargoyle lies the tower containing the current headmaster’s office. Not frequented by most students, and even professors don’t find themselves here often, it is a meeting place of urgance and secrecy. There’s far too much in the many rooms where the headmaster resides, but every inch of the walls, which seem to be fine-combed and detailed themselves, represents personality.

[ ]Divination Classroom
Professor: Sophia Sebastiane Augrey

Located at the base of the North Tower, the Divination classroom is very pungent in spiritual fragrances and different flavoured teas. Even more looked down upon than Astronomy, most of the school seems to look down upon those who take divination seriously. However, if one sticks with their gruesome essays and crystal balls long enough, they might be able to find some truth in the diluted magic.

The floor is decorated in a deep blue carpet, glowing with stars, and the walls are plentifully dotted with bookshelves and windows. If you need to send out a letter to anywhere, or simply want to visit your pet, the Owlery’s the place to do it! The Hogwarts greenhouses are filled with every type of magical plant imaginable, from squirming mandrakes to the ever dangerous Devil’s Snare, so walk with caution! The mandatory Herbology class is very hands-on, and as long as you follow instructions, it’s very hard to fail this class. Mandatory only for first years, flying class mainly bases itself on broomstick handling and physical activity. If you’re an athlete, this class should tickle your fancy, though it’s a rather shunned course. The Care of Magical Creatures class just seems to be stationed so near the Gamekeeper’s cozy little hut. This is because most magical creatures should be dealt with outside. Like Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures is very hard to fail if you pay attention, but the physical strain is enough to turn people off of it rather quickly. It would seem that a lot of people like the hands-on work with so many well-known magical creatures, however, that the classes always seemed filled.
